Myra May Hamilton is a successful employment and entertainment attorney.  She has made a name for herself by defending your rights. She is running for General sessions Judge Civil Division 2.  Judging the Case not the Person is her platform.  Many Judges judge the person standing before them, rather than the case. This is an unfair practice and one that Myra May Hamilton will put to rest once she is in office.

I am running for election to be the NEXT, Judge for General Sessions Civil Court Division II, which is sometimes commonly known to some citizens within the community as the “Evictions Court”.  General Sessions Civil Court ‘s  jurisdiction  handles a wide variety of civil matters of cases with a monetary value of $25,000 or less. Actions heard primarily are :


Forcible entry detainer actions (evictions)
Action to recover personal property
Emergency mental commitments
Denial petitions for handgun permits
Interpleaders
Drug Dealer Eviction Program


I first made the decision to seek election to the bench because I believe I have the proper skills, qualifications, personal temperament and commitment to service required to be a fair impartial and hardworking judge.  Throughout my career I deliberately sought professional challenges that would give me a broad perspective on the law that is required of a judge.


I intend to devise a plan of action to clear out any backlogged cases and I will create such a plan in a efficient and measurable manner.
